“Shellfish”, 8×10″ acrylics on canvas board, 2017
Original in the Artist’s Collection
One of my first paintings, it began as a lesson, painting a Shark Eye Moon Snail shell in a studio setting, white background and surface, just the shell and it’s shadow. I liked it, but realized it would sit in a pile or a drawer somewhere and be forgotten, so I imagined a setting and painted it in, coming up with a finished painting I’m proud to hang on my wall.
You can see the process I followed to develop the finished painting here.
